Born in 1973 in Mulhouse, of Franco-Swiss nationality, Olivier Metzger lives and works in Arles. After working as a medical assistant in public hospitals, he studied photography at the French National School of Photography in Arles and graduated in 2004.
In 2004 he was the award winner of the Off Festival of the Arles International Photography Festival. Since this event, he’s participated in several group and individual shows: the Château d’Eau gallery in Toulouse in 2005, La Filature in Mulhouse in 2005 and 2008, the Arles International Photography Festival in 2005, the Villa Medicis in 2005, Galerie Lebleuduciel in Lyon in 2006 and 2007, the Derby International Design Festival in 2007, the Yoga Gallery in Seoul in 2007, Galerie Lacen (Paris) in 2007, S.L.I.C.K. art fair (Paris) in 2007, September of photography in Lyon 2008 ( winner of the BMW special awards), ICP school (New York) 2009 and selected in the“prix découverte” in Arles’s international Festival in 2009.
He has also worked in applied photography, has carried out several public and private photo assignments and has shot portraits for national and international press.
